Installation
Follow these steps to install the Fauna XL Cargo Cage on a compatible frame or fork mount.
Installation Steps
Section titled “Installation Steps”-
Position the cage: Hold the backplate against the mounts. Use the horizontal slot if your mounts are slightly misaligned, and make sure the cage is oriented with the open side facing forward.
-
Add spacers if needed: For recessed carbon fork mounts, place the included TPU spacers between the cage and the mounting surface.
-
Position the foot: Mount the foot where it best supports your load. For long items like tent poles, remove the foot entirely. For shorter items like bottles or small dry bags, mount the foot near the bottom of the cage.
-
Thread the bolts: Insert the M5 bolts through the cage, spacers, and into the mounts. Start all bolts by hand before tightening. If you have a torque wrench, tighten to 5-6 Nm. Otherwise, tighten securely without over-tightening.
-
Secure your load: Strap your bottle, bag, or gear into the cage and verify it cannot shift while riding.
Final Checks
Section titled “Final Checks”- Recheck bolt torque after your first ride.
- Confirm straps stay tensioned and the load does not contact the wheel, frame, or fork.
- Stay within the recommended load limit of 6 kg (13.2 lbs).
- If bolts loosen over time, consider applying a small amount of threadlocker.
